Welcome to OriginShorts! These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a legally binding agreement between you ("you" or "User") and OriginShorts ("OriginShorts," "we," "us," or "our"), governing your use of the OriginShorts platform at originshorts.com and all related services (the "Service").
By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
Payment Processing: Our order process is conducted by our online reseller Paddle.com. Paddle.com is the Merchant of Record for all our orders. Paddle provides all customer service inquiries and handles returns. Please refer to Paddle's Buyer Terms and Privacy Policy for terms governing your purchase transactions.
You must be at least thirteen (13) years old to use the Service. If you are between 13 and 18, you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf. If we learn that a child under 13 has created an account, we will delete it promptly.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and password. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. You may not share account credentials, create multiple accounts, or register accounts through automated methods. You agree to notify us immediately at [email protected] if you become aware of any unauthorized use of your account.
OriginShorts is an AI-powered platform that converts text scripts into short-form videos using AI-generated images, voiceovers, captions, and background music. By using the Service, you acknowledge that:
(a) Your scripts and input are transmitted to third-party AI services for processing in order to generate video content.
(b) AI-generated content may vary in quality and accuracy, and may contain visual artifacts, pronunciation errors, or factual inaccuracies.
If the Service integrates with third-party platforms (such as YouTube, TikTok, or Instagram), your use of those integrations is also subject to the terms of those platforms.
The Service is offered through tiered subscription plans with varying credit allotments, as described on our pricing page. Plans are available on monthly and annual billing cycles.
Credits are units redeemed to generate videos. Credits are not currency, stored value, or transferable between accounts.
Subscription Credits: Your plan's monthly credit allotment expires at the end of each billing period. For monthly subscribers, credits expire when your billing period renews. For annual subscribers, credits are allocated in monthly allotments that reset every 30 days. Expired subscription credits cannot be recovered, refunded, or reinstated.
Bonus Credits: New accounts receive a small number of complimentary credits. Bonus credits do not expire and are only consumed after your subscription credits have been used.
Failed Generations: If a video generation fails due to a technical error on our end, the credits consumed for that generation are automatically restored to your account.
It is your responsibility to monitor your credit usage.
We reserve the right to modify the credit system, including allotments and expiration policies, with thirty (30) days' advance notice.
All payments are processed by Paddle.com as Merchant of Record. When you purchase a subscription, you enter a separate purchase agreement with Paddle governed by their Buyer Terms. All applicable taxes (including VAT) are calculated, collected, and remitted by Paddle.
Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing cycle unless you cancel beforehand. You can cancel anytime through your account settings or Paddle's customer portal. Upon cancellation, you retain access for the remainder of your paid period, after which your account becomes inactive.
When you change your subscription plan, your new plan's credit allotment replaces the previous amount. Billing adjustments for plan changes are handled by Paddle in accordance with their Buyer Terms.
New accounts receive complimentary credits to evaluate the Service before purchasing. By subscribing, you acknowledge that you have had the opportunity to evaluate the Service.
Refund requests for subscriptions may be considered within fourteen (14) days of the original transaction date, or within fourteen (14) days of the most recent renewal, provided that less than 10% of your current period's credit allotment has been consumed. Once 10% or more of your credits have been consumed, the refund window closes, as the underlying compute resources used to generate your content cannot be recovered.
One-time credit pack purchases are non-refundable once any credits from the pack have been used. Unused credit packs may be refunded within fourteen (14) days of purchase. Credits from one-time purchases expire twelve (12) months from the date of purchase.
All refunds are processed by Paddle as Merchant of Record and are subject to Paddle's refund policy as outlined in their Buyer Terms. Refunds are provided at the sole discretion of Paddle and may be refused. To request a refund, visit paddle.net or email [email protected].
If you are a consumer in the EEA, you have the right to withdraw from a purchase within 14 days. However, by beginning to use the Service and consume credits, you explicitly consent to immediate performance and acknowledge that you lose your right of withdrawal. This is in accordance with the EU Consumer Rights Directive (2011/83/EU).
You retain all rights to the scripts, text, and other materials you submit to the Service ("Input"). We use your Input to provide the Service to you, including by transmitting it to third-party AI services as described in Section 2.
As between you and OriginShorts, and to the extent permitted by applicable law, you own the videos and content generated through the Service ("Output"). We assign to you all our right, title, and interest, if any, in and to your Output.
You acknowledge that:
(a) Due to the nature of AI, certain elements of Output may not be eligible for copyright protection in all jurisdictions. Your original script content may be copyrightable, while purely AI-generated elements (images, voiceovers) may not be.
(b) Output may not be unique — other users with similar input may receive similar results.
(c) We do not guarantee that Output will not infringe third-party rights. You are responsible for reviewing Output before use.
You have a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free right to use your Output for any lawful purpose, including commercial use such as social media, advertising, client work, and resale. This right survives even after your subscription ends.
The Service itself — including the website, design, logos, software, and technology — remains our exclusive property. You may not copy, reverse-engineer, or create derivative works from any part of the Service.
If you provide suggestions or feedback about the Service, you grant us the right to use it freely without obligation to you.
You agree not to use the Service to:
We reserve the right to remove any content and suspend or terminate any account at our sole discretion, with or without reason, and with or without prior notice.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ACCURACY.
WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT: (A) THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, SECURE, OR ERROR-FREE; (B) AI-GENERATED CONTENT WILL BE ACCURATE, UNIQUE, OR NON-INFRINGING; (C) VIDEO QUALITY, RENDERING TIMES, OR PLATFORM COMPATIBILITY WILL MEET YOUR EXPECTATIONS; OR (D) ANY ERRORS WILL BE CORRECTED.
If you are a consumer in a jurisdiction that does not allow certain warranty exclusions, the above may not fully apply to you, and you may have additional statutory rights.
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, ORIGINSHORTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.
OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING FROM THESE TERMS OR THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF: (A) THE FEES YOU PAID TO US (VIA PADDLE) IN THE 12 MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM; OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS ($100).
Some jurisdictions do not allow these limitations, so they may not fully apply to you.
You may cancel your subscription anytime through your account settings. To fully delete your account and data, you can request deletion through your account settings or by contacting [email protected]. After requesting deletion, there is a 30-day grace period during which you may reactivate your account. After the grace period, your account and all associated content will be permanently deleted.
We may suspend or terminate your account at any time, at our sole discretion, with or without cause, and with or without notice.
Upon termination, your license to use the Service ends, unused subscription credits are forfeited, and outstanding fees remain due. If you delete your account, you may download your content during the 30-day grace period described above. If we terminate your account, we may delete your content immediately or at our discretion.
We may modify, update, or discontinue features of the Service at any time. For significant changes to functionality included in your plan, we will provide 30 days' advance notice. If we discontinue the Service entirely, we will provide 90 days' notice and an opportunity to export your content.
We are not liable for service interruptions caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, such as natural disasters, internet outages, or third-party provider failures.
These Terms are governed by applicable law. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be resolved in accordance with the laws applicable to the parties involved.
Before filing any formal proceeding, you agree to contact us at [email protected] and attempt to resolve the dispute informally for at least 30 days.
If you are a consumer in the EEA or United Kingdom, nothing in these Terms deprives you of mandatory consumer protections under the laws of your country, including your right to bring proceedings in your local courts.
We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be effective when posted to this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. It is your responsibility to review these Terms periodically. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance.
